HD Match Privacy Policy

HD Match ("we", "us") is run by HD Match, based in Colorado, USA. This policy explains what we collect when you use HD Match, why, and the choices you have. Questions? Email privacy@hdmatch.app.

The short version

• We collect what we need to calculate your Human Design chart and match you with people: your first name, email, password, and birth details.
• Other users see only your first name and your chart. They never see your email, birth date, birth time, or birth place.
• We calculate charts on our own server. We don't send your birth details to an outside chart service.
• We don't show ads, we don't sell or rent your data, and we don't ask for photos.
• HD Match is for people 18 and over.

1. What we collect

When you sign up - First name. We keep only the first word you enter, up to 30 characters. - Email address. Used as your login and for account emails like password resets. - Password. We never store your password itself, only a one-way hash of it. - Birth date, birth time, and birth place. You pick your birth place from a list of cities. We store the city and its time zone so we can calculate your chart. - Age confirmation. You confirm you are 18 or older.

What we calculate from it - Your Human Design chart: type, authority, profile, definition, centers, channels, and gates.

What you add while using HD Match - What you're looking for (friendship, romance, networking) and matching preferences, such as types, authorities, profiles, or gates you'd like in a match. - Matches: who you were matched with, when, and whether a match ended. - Messages you send your matches. - Blocks and reports: who blocked whom, and for reports, the reason, any details you write, and the report's status.

Collected automatically - Cookies and browser storage, described in Section 6. - Basic server logs from our host, such as IP address, time, page requested, and errors. We use these only to keep the site running and secure.

What we don't collect: photos, your current location, contacts, payment details, or advertising identifiers.

2. How we use it

• To create and run your account and keep you logged in.
• To calculate your chart from your birth details.
• To pick your daily matches using charts and your preferences.
• To deliver messages between you and your matches.
• To keep people safe: blocks stop people seeing each other again, and we review reports.
• To send account emails, like password reset links and notices that your password changed.

We don't use your data for advertising, and we don't sell it.

3. Who can see your information

• Other users see only your first name and your chart, and only when you're matched. Your matches also see the messages you send them.
• We can access account data to run the service, review reports, and respond to valid legal requests.

4. Service providers

We don't sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We use a small number of providers to run HD Match: - Render (Render Services, Inc.) hosts the app and its database on servers in the United States. - Resend (Resend, Inc.) delivers account emails, such as password reset links and password-change notices. Resend receives only your email address and the content of those emails.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect someone's safety. If HD Match is ever sold or merged, we'll tell you before your data moves to different terms.

5. Where your data lives

HD Match is run from the United States, and our servers are in the United States. If you use HD Match from elsewhere, your information is transferred to and stored in the US.

6. Cookies and browser storage

• Session cookie. One essential, signed cookie keeps you logged in and protects forms against forgery (CSRF). It's cleared when you log out.
• Browser storage. Your browser remembers your display choices (light or dark mode, accent color, and the color tone toggle) in local storage. This stays on your device and isn't sent to us.

We don't use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party analytics.

7. How long we keep it

• Account data (name, email, password hash, birth details, chart, preferences, messages): for as long as you have an account.
• Ended matches: we keep a record that a match ended so you aren't matched with that person again.
• Password reset links expire after 30 minutes and can only be used once.
• After you delete your account, see Section 9. Blocks and reports other people made about your account are kept as bare account numbers, without your name, email, or birth details, so we can prevent abuse.
• Backups and logs kept by our hosting provider may hold copies for a short time before they're overwritten.

8. Security

We store passwords only as hashes, use encrypted connections (HTTPS), protect forms against forgery, sign you out of other devices when your password changes, and never show birth details to other users. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your data safe and will tell you if a breach affects you, as the law requires.

9. Your rights and choices

Wherever you live, you can: - See and download your data. Under Account, you can view what we store about you and download it as a file (JSON). - Correct it. Under Account, you can edit your first name, email, birth details, and password. Changing birth details changes your chart. - Delete your account. Under Account → Delete account (you'll confirm with your password). This immediately deletes your profile, email, password hash, birth details, chart, preferences, the messages you sent, the blocks you made, and the reports you filed. Your matches end. You can also ask us to delete your account by emailing privacy@hdmatch.app from your account's email address.

California (CCPA/CPRA), EU/UK (GDPR), and other privacy laws: you can ask to know, access, correct, delete, or get a copy of your personal information, or object to how we use it, by emailing privacy@hdmatch.app. We'll reply within 30 days, and may need to confirm it's you first. We don't sell or share your information for advertising, and we won't treat you differently for using your rights. If you're in the EU or UK, you can also complain to your local data protection authority.

10. Children

HD Match is only for people 18 and over. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn an account belongs to someone under 18, we'll delete it. If you think a minor is using HD Match, email privacy@hdmatch.app.

11. Changes to this policy

If we update this policy, we'll change the "Last updated" date above. For important changes, we'll let you know by email or in the app before they take effect.
